For this important reason we call on the Costa Rican people, private companies, foundations, non-governmental organizations, state institutions and the media to join us in this common cause. The collaboration of all these actors is essential to raise awareness of the importance of respecting traffic regulations. Only in this manner will we be able to build a more solid and effective road safety environment, where the value of life and safety on our roads is an absolute priority.

The Geovanni Vásquez Foundation, in collaboration with the Presidency of the Republic, the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, and COSEVI, have joined together with an urgent and vital purpose, to save human lives. Which is why last Thursday, July 18th, a Country wide campaign: Road Safety event was held, which highlighted the alarming situation of road accidents resulting from non-compliance with road safety regulations on our highways.

The violation of these rules has reached worrying levels: recklessness, speeding, driving under the influence, distraction due to the use of cell phones and other factors are causing an irreparable loss of human lives. As indicated by Mr. Geovanni Vásquez, President of the Foundation, road accidents have become an epidemic that has left its painful mark on countless Costa Rican families.
