NATIONAL CAMPAIGN – “ENOUGH WITH VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN”

In light of International Women’s Day on March 8, the Geovanni Vásquez Foundation has launched a powerful National Campaign entitled “Enough with Violence against Women” to raise awareness and take action in the fight against gender-based violence. This initiative focuses on preventing and eradicating violence against women and girls, a concerning issue in Costa Rica. The campaign comes at a time when the country has seen a staggering 483 femicides since the Law on the Punishment of Violence against Women was passed in 2007. Alarmingly, up to 75% of women experiencing violence do not report their suffering, which manifests in multiple forms such as feminicidal violence, family violence, sexual harassment, teacher violence, community violence, institutional violence, and workplace violence.

One of the campaign’s core elements is to amplify the voices and stories of women who have broken free from cycles of violence. These women, by transforming their pain into resilience, serve as symbols of strength, hope, and determination for others still caught in violent situations.

Through this campaign, the Geovanni Vásquez Foundation continues to take action, pushing for concrete measures that promote a culture of non-violence, urging the government and society to join forces in making real, lasting change. Breaking the silence surrounding violence against women and girls is crucial to building a safer, more dignified world for all women.

LET OUR CRIES FOR JUSTICE RESONATE AND LET’S ACT UNITED!
